Very many congratulations go to Mad Dog for his superb handling of the flower of Kentish Womanhood in umpiring the Kent Cup Final today.  The adjudicator rated his performance as 'Outstanding'.  He then returned to umpire the closing overs at Petts Wood, where the oppo rated his performance as 'underdressed'.

Yesterday saw the nth annual dinner of SMCC, in the congenial surroundings of Shortlands Golf Club.  The evening began with drinks chez Garrard Junior, and very nearly ended with revelations about Garrards Senior and a dining room table.  In a very close ballot, Butch just regained his title of Player of the Season, with Pruds a very close second.  Raptor was most improved (cricket, not behaviour), Nugget won Norman and yours truly achieved his first ever champagne moment, in celebration of which I have changed the design of the website, added a Manhattan (just for you, cobwebs) and corrected the oppo for Butch's 5-17.  Don't forget the AGM at the Bull's Head in Pratt's Bottom on 22nd November...

It is with great sorrow and heavy hearts that we have to annouce the death of much-loved Honorary Vice-President and long-term umpire, Derek Shaw.  A brief obituary and tribute may be found here.

Clown and Claire plighted their troth (whatever that means) at St Mary's (see photographic evidence).  Everybody wishes them every possible happiness in the future (but can we have him back for a few games, please?)

Following a landmark decision at last night's AGM, the career stats for Scorers and Umpires have now been listed separately.  For a limited time only, I have listed ALL scorers and umps, although long-term I will probably restrict them to 10 or more appearances.  Had I NOT published them, there would have been all sorts of trivia questions available, including Who are the two people to have played, scored and umped for St M's?  (Elaine & Jim)
